Predestined to Hell?

13 May 2014, 13:34
Forming part of the Question and Answer session to non-Christians, this comes in a different format that fellow Christian friends have to read this and reason together. Ever heard others saying some people are predestined to hell while others to heaven? If this is the case, then is it fairness in God's side? From Wikipedia is the statement: "Predestination is the Divine foreordaining or foreknowledge of all that will happen; with regard to the salvation of some and not others. It has been particularly associated with the teachings of John Calvin."

Without a doubt, John Calvin was a true reformer, but not that he had all the light revealed at the time, which in itself does not make one necessarily a false Christian. Take the disciples of Christ for example, they were presented with truth by the Lord Jesus yet they still had some wrong misconception regarding the mission of Christ, it was only later that they started to understand the things that had to happen to their Lord.

But this is not about John Calvin, but this idea of predestination defined as thus from Wikipedia or some. In the light of the idea, we would like to ask; How can it be that God would predestine others to Hell and others to Heaven, does it mean that Christ only died for a selected few? Such can only contradict scripture as John 3:16 explicitly says, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that WHOSOEVER believe in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

Choice is the point in the above verse. The Gift of God, Jesus Christ, is for the whole world and anyone who should belief in this Gift should not perish but have everlasting life. Actually, what does the Bible say about predestination?"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:"- Ephesians 1:4. We were chosen in Christ before the foundation of the world, that is, before the creation of earth. Now the verse following says;"Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will." We clearly are not an after-thought, and since from before the earth's foundation made sure, connecting the 2 verses, theres a prove that the plan of salvation was already provisioned to man that should he sin, he should be "predestinated...unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ"  It is the reason why God sent His Son to become a substitute to man that anyone who should believe in Him should be accepted in the Beloved. God's love being revealed that it is not his will that man should suffer the penalty of Sin, eternal death, but rather should believe and be saved in Christ.

So shall this theory still find place in your heart, the theory saying that others are predestined to hell and others to heaven though the Bible refute such?
