I have just read the article : "Emotions high over Pretoria name debate"
This country is becoming something of a horror story instead of adventure. We are not growing our country or economy in accordance with what Nelson Mandela started. My heart aches when i think of what Mr Mandela did and how its been pushed aside in our country, been over ruled by greed and power. Its so sad that on the weekend at the Pretoria city Hall "groups of people gathered in separate race groups". My friends and i would be gathered together, all races mixed. We wont get anywhere in this country if we do not work together!!!
Government wants to change the names of streets, suburbs... I'm surprised they haven't tried to change the name of our beloved country.
South Africa, its seriously time to let go of the past and take hold of the future. Our future is the next generation. I honestly dont think that the children living without running water and electricity or those children in schools without text books care about the name change of Pretoria. With the money that is being spent on ridiculous propositions we should be using that money on empowering the youth and teaching them that our country is stronger united.
Crime is becoming worse, I mean, Gun fights in Pretoria! A child gets shot in a cross fire from gangs fighting against each other over territory!
And all that ministers can do is apologise for the deaths caused by these crimes. Step up! Stop using the money given to you by government in your department for things only beneficial to yourselves. Change the Crime rate!
I vote no change on Pretoria's name. This name change isnt about keeping the past or changing the future - its selfish in either sense.
Let this country be as it is and only improve it.
