It has been noticed that companies that offer online dating services have been plunged by a growing number of hits, whereby people are searching constantly for formidable partners. Some Internet based companies provide services to the public to meet and chat, like Twoo; Facebook; and others target certain age groups like, 45yrs and above would be the criteria to be eligible to log on and search for that partner and others are just chat groups. How trustworthy are these website that organise or create platforms were certain groups might engage in positive communication.
I have heard stories where certain individuals were harassed by people they met through chat-groups like MXit; 2go; Twoo; WhatsApp; and Twitter and others actually gave their addresses and eventually fell victims to sexual harassment by people who have claimed to be someone they are not and took identities of other people in order to gain access to basic individual private information, who innocently searches for love of his/her life or just pure unadulterated companionship. The present civilisation is intrinsically being entangled inside “virtual world” where each person has created his/her own space, that you can notice when you walk around town people are just preoccupied interacting with someone thousand kilometres away incognisance of the near surroundings. One child was almost hit by a passing car at an intersection because he couldn’t see the scratching car because he was busy on his cellphone typing I don’t know what, do we blame technology or we just have to be careful on how we utilise this gadget so that we don’t fall victim to Web Technology and we cannot deny it we need the Internet and the Interface that comes with it, maybe some of us can make better use of this advancement of our Technology, thanks to the Blackberry’s and Nokia’s and other leading Software companies that continue organising innovative concepts for us to be able now to interact with a large number of people around the world in Real-Time, with just a touch of a button.
I think most of us should acquainted with such advancement should take advantage and use it to promulgate positive platforms that can “AID” in the advancement of our species, rather than focus on destructive methods that demoralises the spirit of real Romance seekers or just friendships adoration. The Chat-room Website’s, like Facebook; MXit; Twoo...Etc should work as vehicle of co-efficient communication terminals for all purposes in social and economic cycles of life.
