We recently employed a young guy (25) at our factory. He runs 3 lines that produce our goods. Each line has a different function and each line does 12-15 different products.
Each product has its own unique recipe that must be followed to the letter otherwise the customer can and will reject the product. It happens from time to time, human error and all that.
Our new supervisor will also control about 8 people on the lines. He is responsible for their safety, work ethic, productivity and general well being.
He works from 7:00am till 4:30pm Monday to Thursday with a 50 minute lunch. Friday we knock off at 3:00pm. When the customers’ demands go up, he will be expected to run a line or two on a Saturday – no overtime.
We give him trails to run for customers in between all this. This does impact on the productivity of the line but he still maintains an 80% efficiency rate.
This is done with a smile on his face and a positive outlook on life.
He is paid R 12,600.00 per month.
The hell with the rock breakers at the mines wanting R 12,500.00 per month as a basic plus all the extras the mine throws in.
