The other day, I posted my goodbye to SA. It's all happening a lot faster than I'd ever imagined possible, and it looks like I'll be commenting from halfway around the world by mid June. Because YES, I intend to continue commenting.
What I wanted to mention though is something I have noticed on nearly every post I read on here - my own and others.
That is that ONE person will make a racist comment, and suddenly, you have all kinds of comments accusing you of that person's racism.
Let's be clear here South Africa - racism, like other forms of stupidity - is not contagious. You do not 'catch' it by contact with racists.
If that were the case, then everyone who'd ever read a story about good ol Juju would be frothing at the mouth with genes based hatred for the world.
So, dear SAn's, when you comment on stories here, try to focus your minds (no matter how large or small they happen to be) on the story in question - NOT what other people have to say about it. None of us control the comments we get, and quite frankly, if you can't make that connection, you should be doing something other than commenting on a news site. Like comprehension tests for instance.
Anyway, still counting down the days - most exciting, scary, thrilling, heartbreaking, magical, terrifying thing I've ever done. And I've taken the front seat in taxis!
