In South Africa’s not too distant past, promises were made to the people once the chains of Apartheid had been broken and the current ruling party took hold of the reigns of a Country that was a shell of its former self. The main promise made was that life would be better for all South Africans, but even that seems to be a reach for the stars.
People have been saying to themselves and anyone who would listen, “man, Apartheid was among the cruelest forms of punishment that a human being could have endured, but this new thing that our society has become is even worse”. The very people that promised us a better life after the cruelty that we have had to endure under their predecessors are imposing that very same cruelty onto us. The very people that swore to fight for us have become dark versions of themselves as a result of their blindness by greed and power and have forgotten the very ideals that they struggled and fought for.
H.F. Verwoerd is probably rolling in his grave and thinking that he has succeeded in turning South Africans against one another, which at the time of his governing he did to an extent, but the current government who is “supposedly” looking after the interests of its people is doing the very same thing. South Africans are fighting amongst themselves and are in essence carbon copies of everything that H.F. Verwoerd stood for. The National Party government had its soldiers and the current ANC has its comrades, the only difference being the soviet reference.
What South Africa needs right now is for someone to stand up for the very ideals that the ANC has previously fought for and forgotten due to their greed and their hunger for power. That person will then unite all South Africans against the ANC so that they lose power and the new Government will govern with the ideals that Nelson Mandela stood for and still stands for. Let’s wake up and follow our Constitution, which says that whenever any form of Government becomes destructive of the ideals that it fought for, it is the right of the people to alter or abolish it and to institute a new Government.
The thing about hunger is that it never ceases, it’s that constant nagging and craving that you get in your stomach and the black hole just keeps getting bigger and bigger and even more demanding. Once you get a taste of greed and power, you can never go back. The ANC is truly living Machiavelli’s philosophy and if he were alive today, he would be proud in stating that South Africa’s current government is living up to his memory and leading by his example in that they are torturing their people until South Africans become people who are only happy to destroy themselves.
