It has now become apparent why the unhappy minority are now writing in everyday and declaring that they are renouncing “their citizenship”, even when we wish these people a speedy and a safe trip we still are labeled and called names. The “why” is simply that these people were used to first world standards in a third world country where the majority toil away and still live in poverty. These soon to be expats complain about issues like crime and the corruption in government. Granted that government corruption is unacceptable, solving societal crime is a matter of the social dynamics. As long as the poor are in the millions crime will stay with us, and as long as the majority remain uneducated there will be no improvement towards first world status. Now, I can’t get into reasons why that is because I will be accused of “living in the past” I will simply move on to my next point.
And it is: these people also seek to speak for the black population. They never lived with us but are telling us that we were safer in the dark days. The irony is that the black professionals are now safer in the formerly whites only areas where most of these soon to be expats reside. So even in their worst of times, we still experience our best of times. Some of these people brandish how their “super skills” will be solely missed and appreciated in foreign lands. My message is we do not care. Simply because the majority people of this country skilled or not will stay put. We have no dual citizenship or ancestors in foreign lands. Our ancestors are buried here and we will die here. We are a people of Africa, a resolute people. When one becomes a part of us we welcome them, when one leaves we let them go. We are a people full of Ubuntu. We may not have much but we have ourselves and our neighbours.
Some of these people claim “reverse racism” because of BEE and AA, they never mention that the fact that they have these “super skills” they throw in our faces is mainly because of a hundred years of systems designed to keep our people down, the very systems that created the “thieves” and “murderers” they now complain about. These people, the soon to be expats shout through the rooftops about how “two wrongs don’t make a right”, yet when one asks for solutions to address past imbalances they offer none. They long for the days they were once handed a golden spoon to eat; well none of us have ever held the golden spoon.
It is high time the soon to be expats leave these shores, we do not need them, we suffered through a hundred years of mental and physical subjugation and we survived. We are working through enough superior and inferiority complexes; we have racial issues we are trying to deal with. We have an inefficient government and a population that still fails to grasp the power of a strong parliament. But, the soon to be expats are not going to offer us any help, so leave us alone. South Africa is not a first world country and no longer can we afford a nation of two societies. We have bigger problems in this country than to worry about people that don’t want to be here.
We will be fine, and South Africa’s people irrespective of race, sex and education status will try our best. And if we fail we will try again, after all that’s what some of us have been doing all our lives. We are not going anywhere, our fathers and mothers died so we can walk free amongst these lands; we repay them by being faithful to their ideals and seeking a better life for all. By any means necessary and one runaway monkey don’t stop any show.
