It is absolutely disgraceful that instead of government employing the services of the Hawks to fish out the criminal element of recipients of social grants, that they are forcing poor people who live on a meagre monthly penison to go to the expense of using their said pension to travel to re-register for their pensions.
Half the systems put into place by government don't work, so how telephoning in each month to speak into a computerised system is going to successfully verify that they are alive so that pensions can be paid into banking accounts I have no idea.
If government is worried about the young girls getting pregnant to get a grant they should have thought about that before creating such a monster. What about the parents who get grants for children up to 18 years of age? Another monster! Why penalise the aged and disabled for the monsters government itself created.
What happened to the days a Certificate of Life was sent out, had to be filled in by a Notary Public and returned to the social services offices. Only if that form wasn't returned did pensions stop until the recipients contact the relevant offices to say they hadn't received a pensions and the pensions could be sorted out.
This new system is going to cause heartache, starvation, lack of resources such as electricity and water and untold frustration for the sick, disabled and elderly whom we should be nuturing. The fall back on the children being raised by grannies because of deceased parents is going to affect their going to school leaving their education to suffer.
The public always suffer because of the inability of the ANC to run a country properly.
