Most people have a tendency of reading only 1 paragraph in an article and/or story and think they know the whole story written. I used to read only 2 (two) paragraphs, the first and the last, thinking that I got the whole story. Up did it up until one day when I hear two people discussing about the story I read but pointing out points I did not see or read.
Here on News24 we are given an opportunity to say our view on any published story. I found out that I was not the only person who has this bad habit of reading only 1 (one) paragraph and think I have covered the whole story, majority of the readers are doing it and they miss a lot.
After realising that I miss a lot by reading only two paragraphs I then started reading the whole article. This is how I read, I read each paragraph twice until I finish the article and then go back to the top and re-read it, this time reading a paragraph once. This means I read an article 3 (three) times. To those that think they are intelligence this is a waste of time but hey, but hey, it works for me for I get every single point an author intended to raise on a story and/or article.
On 30 August 2013, I wrote an article about women, how they dress, dance and then expect men to respect them. On the second paragraph I indicated that women too are God's creatures and that God loves them the same way He loves men. This paragraph did not mean that the whole article is all about religion and/or the whole Bible. However, because I am Christian, I used that paragraph to indicate to men and women that both gender are the same for they come from the same creator. Thus the same treatment should be given to all of them in spite of gender. And that women need not to think that they are special creatures that need special treatment, but human beings like men.
I could tell that most of the people read only the first 2 (two) paragraphs for their comments were only based on what was written on them (first 2 paragraphs). Of course they are those who read the whole article, but they were few, with some who read the whole but misunderstood the article.
By this short article, I am urging the readers to read the whole story/article they read. I know same stories repeat one point again and again, but let us try not to read only 1 paragraph for we are missing a lot and/or misunderstand the author. Because some people hate to read articles that too long, I'll end here. It is only those who will read up to here who will understand what I meant or wanted to say.
