As mentioned in my previous article, I was quite a busy body the last couple of months, and this time the atheists can pull up a chair, pop some popcorn, and enjoy the show...
I spent my time moving between various “ religious” Facebook groups. One of the most concerning to me was the Israel Vision one.
Here is some info, but please do some research to know what it involves...
The crux is this...
“Panta ta ethne” en “Etnos”
According to them, this means “ All the nations of the same race or nationality who share a distinctive culture... “
Panta ta Ethne, is the transliteration of the Greek phrase, all nations, used in Matthew 28:19, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit,” NIV (emphasis mine).
Matthew 28:19, is the first verse of what is called the Great Commission. From the day that this charge was given by Jesus until today these verses have inspired missionaries to GO to all nations with the Gospel. Most translations render Panta ta ethne, as ‘all nations.’ Therefore, its been assumed that doing missions requires the missionary to go to others nations other than the one they consider home. This assumption isn’t entirely accurate. If the western church desires to remain relevant, we will have to learn how to be missionaries to our own nation. I will explain why this is essential later.
According to experts, a.k.a. not me, a better translation of Panta ta ethne is “all the people groups” and not all the nations. The problem with using the word ‘nations’ is that we traditionally think of a nation state for example Sierra Leone or The United States, when we should be thinking about smaller people groups.
For example, Sierra Leone a small nation of 6 million people yet it is comprised of multiple people groups the Krio, Loko, Limba, Fulla, Mandingo and Mende etc. Each people group has its own language and traditions. To effectively reach the nation of Sierra Leone with the Gospel, the Panta ta ethne that make up the nation must be reached.
What was this cultures...? There is the True God culture and the false god culture, Now it would make no sense that God would want the people that already serve and worshipped Him to serve and worship Him, t To me, ethnos here was the false gods culture... and that makes perfect sense... because God created humans as a single group of people, belonging to him. Everyone is His people, but some got lost, and therefore God wanted to draw them near again..
I will quote from a respected source( at least for some )
“Our immediate concern is with the meaning of panta ta ethne in Matthew 28:19. Following are all the places where the combination of pas (all) and ethnos (nation/Gentile) occur in the New Testament, either in the singular (“every nation”) or plural (“all nations/Gentiles”).
24:9 – “You will be hated by pantaon ton ethnon for my sake.”
24:14 (cf. Mark 13:10) – “This gospel of the kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, as a testimony to pasin tois ethnesin; and then the end will come.”
25:32 – “Before him will be gathered panta ta ethne, and He will separate them one from another…”
28:19 – “Make disciples of panta ta ethne.”
11:17 – “My house shall be called a house of prayer for pasin tols ethnesin (cf. Isaiah 56:17)
12:30 – “For panta ta ethne of the world seek these things.”
21:24 – “They will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led captive among ta ethne panta.”
24:47 – "Repentance and forgiveness of sins should be preached in His name to panta ta ethne, beginning from Jerusalem."
2:5 – “Now there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men from pantos ethnous under Heaven.”
10:35 – “In panti ethnei any one who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to Him.”
14:16 – “In past generations he allowed panta ta ethne to walk in their own ways.”
15:17 – “…that the rest of men may seek the Lord, and panta ta ethne who are called by my name.”
17:26 – “And he made from one pan ethnos of men to live on all the face of the earth…”
1:5 – “We have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith for the sake of his name among pasin tois ethnesin.”
3:8 – “And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, “In you shall panta ta ethne be blessed.’” (cf. Genesis 12:3)
4:17 – “But the Lord stood by me and gave me strength to proclaim the word fully, that panta ta ethne might hear it.”
12:5 – “One who is to rule panta ta ethne with a rod of iron.” (cf. Psalm 2:8)
15:4 - “Panta ta ethne shall come and worship thee…”
Taken by themselves (apart from wider biblical context) some of these could be construed as references to a worldwide multitude of non-Jewish individuals instead of “nations,” but even apart from the wider context, Acts 2:5; 10:35; 17:26; Galatians 3:8 and Revelation 12:5 are, with great probability, references to “nations.” All the others MIGHT be—though Acts 15:17 would be hardest to construe as “nations.” It will be well to suspend judgment until we do the wider contextual study.
My conclusion, from the use of ethnos in general and the use of its combination with pas in particular, is that the term panta ta ethne BY ITSELF is not proof that nations or people groups are in view in Matthew 28:19, but our conclusion above under 4.12 would incline us to assume the people group meaning unless the context forbade it. It will be better to study the wider context of missionary commands and expectations in the Old Testament and New Testament to determine the role of peoples rather than base our view merely on the linguistic possibilities of panta ta ethne. “

If we look specifically to point 4, it shows the above view that it should read “All the people groups” and not “ All the nations of a specific ras or culture” as these fine upstanding people are telling us...
Including all the forms of declension; apparently a primary word; all, any, every, the whole: - all (manner of, means) alway (-s), any (one), X daily, + ever, every (one, way), as many as, + no (-thing), X throughly, whatsoever, whole, whosoever.

Gen. 5:1-2 This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created Adam, in the likeness of God made he him; (2) Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created. (KJV)
“die nasies” = ethnos (Grieks) - eth'-nos = a race (as of the same habit – same ethnic group), that is, a tribe, people of the same kind.
“geslag” = Genos - ghen'-os (Grieks) from G1085: kindred; offspring; family; tribe; nation; i.e. nationality or descent from. a particular people; the aggregate of many individuals of the same nature, kind, sort. (Dieselfde Genelyn, nl. van Abraham)
“geslagte” = mishpachah (Hebreeus) (mish-paw-khaw) from H8192 (compare H8198); a family, that is, circle of relatives; figuratively a class (of persons), a species (of animals) or sort (of things); by extension a tribe or people: - family, kind.
“nageslag” = zera? (Hebreeus) zeh'-rah from H2232; seed; figuratively fruit, plant, sowing time, posterity: - X offspring, descendants, posterity, children, carnally, fruitful, seed (-time), sowing-time.
“nageslag” = sperma - sper'-mah (Grieks) from G4687; something sown, that is, seed (including the male “sperm”); by implication offspring; specifically a remnant (figuratively as if kept over for planting): - issue, seed.
“nasies” = gôy gôy (Hebreeus) go'ee, go'-ee = nation, people (noun masculine), of descendants of Abraham, of Israel, of swarm of locusts, other animals (figuratively)
“die volke” = ?am – am (Hebreeus) = a people (as a congregated unit); specifically a tribe (as those of Israel); hence (collectively) troops. or attendants; figuratively a flock: - folk, men, nation, people.
1) nation, people
1a) people, nation
1b) persons, members of one’s people, compatriots, country-men
2) kinsman, kindred
“mens” = Adam “
Now truly, there must be truth in the atheists concerns that religion is wrong, even the concept of God, especially if there is a group of people like the above mentioned people quoted that misuse the Word of God to further their ideology/ philosophy. This would make many people shudder in absurdity, others like the non religious might stand up and salute them for their freethinking capabilities...
I cant align myself as being a Christian/ religious/ follower of the Most High and Allmighty God and follow this ideology as portrayed here by these individuals.
