Esethu or Hasane -“Let us lead the life we want our continent and country to live.” As per your FB account. You also claim to be a student Activist. Unfortunately you do not confirm whether you are studying a B-degree in Activism or otherwise.
Your latest gem http://www.news24.com/MyNews24/Stop-UCT-from-scrapping-Affirmative-Action-20131017-2 cannot be ignored; one would fondly image for its logical and reasoned content, but alas not. No, unfortunately it will be for its glaring and quite obvious lack of thought, apt to be overwhelmed by your misguided knowledge of history, elective outrage and your ambition to be seen as a believer [that] it is with [y]our generation that we will see change in Africa. (sic your FB).
It would be appreciated if, during your busy study schedule, you might just slightly postpone your next illuminating critique of any subject that you affectionately envision will presently prevent the black downtrodden from achieving their demand for more undeserved redress.
What would be very instructive to all readers would be your definition of “black”. In 1992, 69% of the then classified as white, voters indicated that they are in favour of scrapping the concept of race. This was effectively done in 1994 by all eligible voters. (I guess you might actually have been born around then).
You now, (20 years later), actively support a race based classification for admission to education.
So let’s hear it from you who show such luminous insight. What are the physical characteristics of “black people”? How much must their pigmentation be to qualify for being “black”? Especially those born post-’94.
You see you quoted that we must lead the life we want our continent and country to live. So must we assume that you want this country to return to race classification and discrimination, by living our lives in line with your suggestions? (That very concept for which blood was shed, -and more, to abolish it).
Seeing we are so enthusiastically exhorted to classify, could I thus classify you as an opportune racist?
No hurry to reply. I assume you want some time to think about this.
What with all those silly lectures and important political meetings......
