Respect Mandela...Is that too much to ask?
What would you remember Mandela for? I am certain that there are various response to this question. However, I write this post anguished, agonised and embarrassed by what took place at the Icon memorial Service.
Most of you might deem it necessary that South Africans must express their anger to the President Jacob Zuma. They booed him and continued to sing while heads of distinct nations were giving their speeches. I am really saddened by the fact that people used the wrong platform to express their political intolerance, preference, anger and foolishness.
Let me make it clear to you that I am in no support of the ANC or Zuma himself, I do not agree with his product of his work or leadership action in large however, I still respect him as a human being. I am one of the people who think he should do the honorable thing and resign.
In addition, I hurts me deeply to think that I would remember Nelson Mandela Memorial service with for Selfies, Fake interpreters and last but not least...the booing.
As a human being, please ask yourself one thing...What if Mandela was your father or a family member and people behave like that on his memorial service? Is this how we say Thank you to Madiba? After everything he did for us and the world?
What is shockingly shocking is the fake interpreter which was standing few meters from distinct leaders Interpreting nonsense! What doesn't surprise me is that the same interpreter was observed last year at the ANC's 100th anniversary. See the video here and pay a close view at the sign interpretation:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_Br-PEddYU&feature=youtube_gdata_player
This is one of the highest security breach which could have gone other way. It says a lot about our leadership in this country. It is also an insult to deaf people throughout the world.
I wouldn't indulge further on what some woman were wearing to see Mandela. I call it professional prostitution!
Rest in Peace Mandela.
