Responding to Problems with the Bible. Part 1

Before the beginning
Before the beginning, Yahweh used to while his time away sitting in the dark all by himself working out his master plan. Oops, a problem. He did not work out his master plan because he always knew what it would be and how it would end. So, therefore his master plan was always there and he never had to work it out. He did this for an eternity, sitting there all on his own (oops another problem "sitting"). To be able to sit, he needed a chair, so maybe he was floating? But floating means you need someting to float in like air or water. And that did not exist either. So maybe we should then say he was everywhere. Another problem, everywhere did not exist, neither did heaven. The Bible says in Exodus 20:11 that God made everything in six days, heaven and earth and everything in them. So, where was he and what did he do all eternity? It seems like nobody really knows where he existed all that time. Oops, another problem..existed. To exist, you must have been created.
The first problem is trying to understand GOD while living in a worldview that does not and cannot firstly accept or understand what an uncaused cause of the universe is. Now the question to ask is that is it possible for an uncaused cause to demonstrate attributes/ qualities that is beyond our imagination. Off cause if such a being exists then that being must transcend the collective of all that Being has caused into existence. You on the other hand will accept that life did not always exist. You believe that it evolved from matter that was originally lifeless. Okay, let’s mix hydrogen with oxygen and whatever makes up life and let’s see if we come up with life.
Now if we look at the author “Reality’s” article, you will notice a classical straw man – How did he know that GOD was sitting somewhere in the dark? The question is he assumed that GOD was sitting and suddenly went oops. Now any objective reader be it an atheist, an agnostic or a theist would recognise the strawman argument – The question an objective reader should ask this author is “Please give a citation or please quote a verse where it said that GOD was sitting somewhere in the dark prior to the creation of the universe. Well I certainly did not come across that verse. Genesis 1:1 is clear – In the beginning GOD created the heavens and the earth. There is no verse that went that n the beginning GOD was sitting in the dark. SO “Reality” wanted me to address the issues. This is issue one addressed and refuted. H and then supper
SO what about HIS master plan – well I would expect a being of this nature to be able to think and make decisions. Whenever he made the decision would be a prerogative HE enjoys. Now let’s bring it down to you. You decided that you must have three meals a day. You do not have all in the morning. You would have breakfast, then lunch and then supper. All these meals would be at different times though. That does not mean that you sat around from morning till lunch time waiting to eat lunch. “Reality”, I am sure you see the oops in my refutation. Again, the sitting argument will suffice to deal with the floating strawman argument.
I must point out that I am a Christian who believes in the Triune GOD. This would be quite a challenge for you to understand seeing that you cannot comprehend the simplest attributes of GOD. With all due respects, you would have to read the bible as a sceptic. This means that you must read and challenge the bible outside your worldview. Do not let your worldview influence your ability to see the facts for what they are. If you do choose to resort to make judgements about one worldview, then what makes your worldview the standard it which to judge against. This constitutes biais that demonstrates an illogical treatment of the contents.
There we go again, we already agreed that for something to exist it needs to be created. I know you see the flaw in this argument. I would agree that if it began to exist then it needs to be created but if it did not begin to exist then – no creator necessary. Hey “Reality” did you know that even some peple even go as far as to say that in the world of quantum mechanics, particles pop in and pop out from nothing. It would have been more intelligent for you to actually offer this argument rather that oops if GOD exists then HE must be created. Even with Quantum Mechanics we say that there is not nothing but an energy field in which the particles pop into and out of existence.
Well you are right when you speak of everywhere. Off course that must only exist in the space dimension (Length, breath and height) but you know that for the uncaused cause to create the universe, HE would have to create the dimensions in which the universe is required to exist. So if HE did that, that means the dimensions did not exist eternally in the past. Therefore GOD must transcend space and the same applies to time. Here is a simple example that will help understand this. You made a computer programme and the computer programme required a special programming language in order for it to work. Now because of the language, the programme can add two numbers with the left click of the mouse. Okay, does that mean that you too will be able to add at the left click of a mouse? Well it should be if you force the mechanics and the rules of the created to apply to the Creator.
As we could not sove that problem, let's move on and try to figure out the next one out. In John 1:1 the bible says:
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God"
The "Word" is understood by christians to mean Jesus. Now, for that to have happened, Jesus needed to exist before the beginning. Oops, the wrong word, "existed" again. Let's assume the same explanation as for Yahweh.
This is easy – see my refutation for the relevant oops.
Where is Jesus's mother?
But now we have another problem. For Jesus to be able to be a son, he needed to have come after his father and from his loins, otherwise, how can Jesus be Yahweh's son? If they were both there for eternity, then there is no way that Jesus could be his son. Jesus should be his peer or something like that. And if Jesus is Yahweh's son, where is Jesus's mother? Mary did not exist at that time. So, if Jesus did not need a mother and he did not come after Yahweh and he did not come from Yahweh's loins, how do we know who is the son and who is the father? As Yahweh does not like women (as shown numerous times in the bible) maybe his mother was killed by Yahweh?
Ok, because that problem is unsolvable, let's move on to the next.
Actually, you do not firstly understand the triune nature of GOD. Then you also did not pick up the reason why JESUS became flesh. “Reality” please step outside your worldview so that you will understand this. I asked you to do this in your article but you do not see the logic in what I am saying. If I am speaking say a language you do not understand. Would you say the language is wrong or the grammar is flawed because it sounds wrong to you? You would not be able to say that. You will first have to learn the other language which means the rules that apply to it as well. This is what I mean by you arguing about something that does not exist in your worldview.
Why are there only males in heaven?
The angels must have been created after heaven was created. As you will notice, there are no female angels"
"There is no doubt that every reference to angels in Scripture refers to them in the masculine gender. The Greek word for “angel” in the New Testament, angelos, is in the masculine form. In fact, the feminine form of angelos does not exist. There are three genders in grammar—masculine (he, him, his), feminine (she, her, hers), and neuter (it, its). Angels are never referred to in any gender other than masculine. In the many appearances of angels in the Bible, never is an angel referred to as “she” or “it.” Furthermore, when angels did appear, they always appeared dressed as human males (Genesis 18:2, 16; Ezekiel 9:2). No angel ever appeared in Scripture dressed as a female."
So, we have an all-male heaven at this stage with at least one father and one son but NO FEMALES at all. What does this imply..is there no place in heaven for a female? If there is, why are there no females in heaven? Is it because females are impure? Does this mean that females are only required for breeding males and only males will go to heaven?
“Reality” please if you have to quote a website at least quote the whole intent of the article. You did read that the gender has no relations to sexuality – well that is the context in which you would have to see it in.
But the big oops is that we are talking about angels in one breath and then we are comparing them to humans. This is one big OOPS. Now you are really pushing the straw-man argument to a level of unsophistication. Now would you read John 3:16? It makes no reference to male or female. It makes reference to “whosoever”. Do you see a gender in this word? Did not the bible say honour your father and mother or did it not describe a virtuous woman and many other honourable descriptions of women. I think it’s a question of one seeing only what one wants to see rather than what is visible.
By the way, I think we could have a field day discussion an animal that is hermaphrodite in nature. I raise this to demonstrate that if we have something that has both genders in nature, then it is possible to have something that has a gender. Now should all of us be hermaphrodites in a certain area. I cannot understand how you concluded this to be a brilliant argument.
In conclusion – I may have not fully addressed your “issues” per say but I have clearly demonstrated the bankruptcy of knowledge of a subject that is questioned. Maybe I should go “oops” about a pseudo-reality posing as proven reality but then again, I know you are real and that’s a reality but the reality ends with the first oops you mentioned. Seriously I thought you would raise some issues that Bart Erhman is famous for raising.
GOD bless you
