Two candidates, both in line to rule, the most promising nation the world has ever known, from different walks of life to great achievement, where the fight for power will leave one opponent so close yet so far from victory, from the different sides of these two worthy opponents, a choice the voting public will have to make, with one opponent’s victory over the other, the reigns of the nation shall the victorious champion take.
Presidential election time is once again upon Americans, my where did the time go? I’ll tell you where, into improving the lives of those in America for the better. Some may say for the worst, but the opinion of the voter is of paramount importance. So, who will rise to the occasion and take up the mantle and make America even greater among the family of nations around the world.
The way into the hearts of the voters is through projecting an image of the very ideals that the voters themselves believe in and stand for. Let’s see which candidate is better suited to that image and leads by that example. Let the measuring up begin. The question(s) to answer here is what matters most to Americans and how does each candidate feel about these ideals or better yet, how important are you to each candidate?
As far as abortion and birth control rights are concerned, Obama is a supporter of these rights and believes that women should have access to contraceptives while Romney on the other hand opposes abortion rights and believes that Roe v Wade should be reversed. Here is where one asks what matters to me? Everyone’s circumstances are different so they should be entitled to decide for themselves and not have their decision condemned.
As far as gay rights are concerned, Obama supports the legal recognition of same sex marriage and all the benefits that go along with them. Romney opposes the legal recognition of same sex marriages and the corresponding benefits that couples would be entitled to by virtue thereof. What I ask you is why gay people should be deprived of basic Constitutional rights simply because they have decided to love someone of the same sex with the same ideals that a non-gay person who decides to marry would have.
As far as immigration is concerned, the Obama Administration has been working on the Dream Act to create various paths to citizenship for young illegal immigrants enrolled in colleges all over the country, whereas the Romney Administration creates a similar opportunity for illegal immigrants who serve in the armed forces. Both standpoints here are fair.
The important thing when it comes to where you put your vote is to decide what is important to you and how each of the different candidates’ policies fit in with what you want from your country. You have a hard but worthwhile decision to make which choice makes history.
