Rudderless & Leaderless.....a bumpy ride?

07 February 2013, 11:00

It seems to me that the media, ANC, DA, Citizens Movement, etc are undermining all South Africans by totally ignoring the Freedom Charter and the struggles of our various activist comrades (BCM, PAC, AZAPO, ANC, etc).

As such, they are either a platform to perpetuate elitist capitalism (in the hands of a few whites and their BEE consorts) with a dose of religiousity, or that of a certain sector of our population, excluding others by silence or non-coverage.

For instance, where is coverage or inclusion of whites, Indians (Muslim and Hindu), and other stakeholders in the back mass media? We remain followers for the Sunday ethnic Extras (prophylactics I note!), for Indians and Coloureds. The Caxton-owned community newspapers have a blatant white and Christian bias. We are and remain covertly divided by racism, religion, social and economic class distinctions, residential/spatial 'apartheid', etc. Testimony is we still have our Soweto, KwaMashu, Lenasia, Chatsworth, Eldorado Park, Gugulethu, etc.

Generally, whites dislike blacks as being corrupt, murderers, rapists, etc. Yet, they gang up with blacks in BEE deals against Indians and Coloureds. On the other hand, Jews / Israelis are seen to manipulate the economy and BEE deals; Afrikaners, English, Greek and others make snide remarks about them in privacy.... yet, they gang up against the ANC/blacks (as note, admission to 'their' schools, slaughter of animals in residential areas, firecrackers, partying, etc )! A motley lot that cannot stand one another and worse, cannot do without one another...worse than marriage!

Indians (again generally!), dislike Coloureds and Africans and Muslims are branded by all as extremists, stone age, chauvinists, intolerant, etc.

The ANC has abandoned socialism / nationalisation. Yet, socialism works in Europe, Bolivia, England and even the USA (where banks and industries were bailed out with public Treasury funds). Nationalisation also worked under 'apartheid'; why is it an albatross now?

Our country needs genuine leadership, active and directly involved with the mass and with a deep understanding of all the socio-economic and cultural forces (they are there, like it or not!).

Proportional representation has negated this direct link and accountability; I see our country ready to implode.... rudderless as it has become!
