SA expats must just shut the hell up

04 January 2014, 22:13
I am sick and tired of listening to "former South Africans" living overseas telling us how horrible South Africa is and how glad they are they left.
I always ask, if you are so glad you left, why keep moaning about South Africa? You left. Shut your big fat mouths and leave us and our country alone.
You keep telling us how you were denied employment because of BEE policies. Well maybe you are just scared of little competition from the blacks? The private sector still largely employs young white men. So exclusion are you talking about? Maybe your experience just wasn't good enough?
People who left South Africa and settled happily overseas do not write nasty letters or comments about South Africa. It's you, the angry, illiterate, uneducated pricks who left here because you had a job given to you. Now you get to Australia and you facing stiff competition, you are unemployed and you give South Africa a bad name. You depend on the social system there and are a burden on the economy.
What about the young white men who have actually built their own successful companies despite BEE? Were they lucky? No. They worked hard. They followed their dreams and they are contributing to South Africa. They did not sit and moan about some misguided policy. I have more respect for these young white men and women because they recognized that South Africa belong to those who live it and those that work will be rewarded.
What you don't realize is that by telling your "visitors" how horrible SA is you making yourself appear stupid in their eyes. I can't tell you how many Aussies and Canadians have told me how much they are tired of listening to ex-South Africans complain about this country.
So you all need to shut the hell up. You left at your own accord. No one forced you. You don't hear us telling you that you abandoned your country.
Yes we struggle through with crime, BEE, Zuma, etolls & potholes but we also happy with the fact that we are blessed with a beautiful country. We still have a lot going for us. We have no illusions about where we belong or where we going (unlike yourselves).
Leave us be for heavens sake.....
