SA has lost an academic pioneer

28 November 2012, 12:43
I have heard many wonderful stories about  professor Jakes.  From his activism days until his last few moments with us all in the Western Cape, Cape Town and in South Africa.

But we have to  include his place of birth, Somerset in the Eastern Cape. I'm honourd to say that I've got two uncles that came through his hands at lecture at University of the Western Cape.

Sandile Dikeni a well know poet and journalist, his first poet bundle guiva juice were inintoduce by the late Professor Gerwel and hearing many great stories about them together was an experience.

We will surely miss him. May his soul rest in peace and so his legacy.
