Sanrails Tolls don’t work in the countries or our best interest.

17 January 2014, 08:44
Sanrails Tolls don’t work in the countries or our best interest.

If we had a public transport system like they do in the UK tolls would work for a vast majority of users. As you pay fixed rates for public transport and the zones you want to travel in / to and this includes unlimited trips on the underground and buses. You can get to 99% of the places you want to get to easily safely and withina reasonable time frame.

Based on our city layout and public transport systems you cannot do this in S.A. I Need to see +- 9 clients a day in my industry. Seeing they are spread out all over JHB, Centurion , fourways , alberton etc...

The current public transport infrastructure is not workable for me.

And at its current rates even if it was as well structured as the systems in the UK it would be unaffordable.

My only option is to use the Freeway! Besides the increasing fuel prices due to many factors and that is open to a different debate. E-Tolls add further costs to my already strained budget and I am still one of the fortunate ones.

How many users simply do not have the “extra toll money” as they are already on the edge and struggling to survive? Keep in mind that even at the caped rate of R450 or R500 this is still allot of money for some people.

And remember due to the ill-conceived underhanded plan to toll our roads it’s not only toll fee money that will need to be found and paid.
Keep in mind most of this money leaves S.A as well.

E.g. A farmer brings / gets he’s goods delivered from where ever he is situated to JHB .

The vehicle uses the Toll routes as there are no other options. That cost gets added on to the price that the goods are sold for.

The farmers Market sells the goods to (Pick n pay, Spar or Checkers) they deliver to the main Warehouse toll routes are used again. From the warehouse they split the goods into smaller loads and send them to the shops (Pick n pay, Spar or Checkers) the toll route is use again all these extra costs gets passed on to us the end user when we buy the goods.

And this is one small example that Sanrail and the Government did not do their homework properly and if they did they just don’t care.

All this has what effect??? It increases inflation!

That does what it increases the cost of living etc….. The current Government do not have the best interests of the people as a whole in mind or at heart.

Considering that most people do not have a medical aid or even pension plans and they do not live it up or live irresponsibly what are their options to become unwilling criminals just to survive and feed their families?

Those that believe the lies that have been spewed forth from the ANC and SANRAIL are fools. And it is our responsibility to oppose this corrupt system and those behind it in any way we can!

OUTA on EToll Debr

I really believe Outa is "smoking something" - they are now calling EToll laws unjust and irrational, a far cry from their initial stance of lack of public involvement. Read more...
