I am a sheeple, one of the foolish, who got ‘tagged’, loaded money onto my e-tag, and listened to the beep every time I went under a gantry. I’m not too bothered about the few rands a month it costs me, but, due to a “system issue” on their side, I am now a few hundred out of pocket for phone calls, and time wasted trying to sort out an issue, which SANRAL does not seem interested in sorting out.
On 20 February 2014 my account went into the negative, I didn’t have time to stop at an etoll centre to reload my account. On the morning of the 21st I went and put R500 onto my account, at which point the lady at the Etoll centre confirmed that the outstanding transactions ( not even 12 hours old) were settled, and this reflected on my available account balance , as I only had 449 available from the 500 I just paid on. Fast forward to 27th March 2014 where I now get a letter stating I have been handed over to VPC, so after hours of phone calls, wasted time, and money on cell phone calls, I log an enquiry, nothing, after calls and calls and calls , nothing.
On April 1 (fool’s day) I get a call saying they have identified a system issue and its with their IT department to resolve (so.. who else has this happened to now, how many other people have SANRAL scammed like this, into paying twice for transaction), today, they 4th I log into my account to see that my Enquiry was cancelled..
Right now, I am on the phone again, being bounced around from pillar to post, with no answers, this is a sad sad joke, this system is flawed, and the customer service is non-existent, and they just don’t care.
