I believe that the time has now come for all South Africans to stand up and demand that we get responsible, accountable and dependable leadership from the ruling party.
The current attempts by Jacob Zuma to usurp the power of the highest courts in the land, appoint cronies to key positions and concurrently implement legislation which will enable him to then cover up such nefarious deeds is not in the best interests of either the country or it's citizens. Jacob Zuma must be informed of this now, and stopped, before more damage is done.
I would go further and say that the opposition parties must now join together, in the best interests of the country as a whole, putting individual party politics aside for the moment and attempt to have Jacob Zuma and his cronies removed from office if they do not cease such attempts.
If this is not possible then at least they should attempt to have him impeached, based on his interference in organs of the state, and replaced temporarily by the deputy president. This will enable Jacob Zuma to concentrate, in court, on clearing his name and give the ANC a chance to regain their composure and resume effective governance of the country.
South Africa can no longer allow the current situation to continue as it is having a negative impact on our reputation, our economy and our ability to function as a country.
I would thus request the opposition parties to now stand up and be counted and also for all responsible MP's in the ANC to do likewise and remove this growing stain on our democracy.
We as a country and a people can no longer allow one person to dictate to all who is employed in what position, especially when these people are then found to be not only unfit for the position but often involved in criminality. That we must then see our savings and our earnings continually eroded by wasteful expenditure in court cases defending or prosecuting these people has now gone beyond the realms of a joke and is making us as a country look ridiculous. This needs to be stopped immediately.
South Africans have taken this abuse of their rights for too long now and we demand that those whose salaries are paid by us do the honourable thing, stand up for us and do what is best for the country.
It is time.
