What kind of evil person would go on a rampage at a primary school 11 days before Christmas? Why would somebody do this? According to www.mirror.co.uk Sandy Hook is a junior primary school in a small town Newtown with a population of 27000 in Connecticut and is about 60 miles north of New York City. The school teaches children aged 5 to 10 years.
Roy Occhiogrosso Connecticut Gov Senior Adviser and his main law enforcement officer said they received calls at just after 9-31am (US time) this morning to say there had been a shooting. They have confirmed that 27 people are dead at the school including the shooter who was a 24 year old, Ryan Lanza. 20 children. 6 adults and the shooter were the bodies recovered at the school. According to reports, Lanza seemed to have first killed his father. He also killed his mother, a teacher at the school. Lanza was found dead inside the building. 2 handguns have been recovered. One witness said more than 100 rounds were fired.
You can imagine the pandemonium that broke out among parents as they heard about the shooting and rushed to the school to find out if their children are ok.
One witness said she was in a meeting at the school with the principal, vice principal and the school psychologist, as well as 3 other people. They heard a pop pop pop in the hall. The principal, vice and psychologist went out to investigate and only the vice principal returned and he had been shot in the leg. The witness said the rest of them called 911. She said there was a lot of confusion and panic. At some time after that they were evacuated out of the building by the police and she had to walk past the bodies of the principal and school psychologist.
There is so much tragedy and pain attached to an event like this. Could it possibly be an angry, bitter young man who had a vendetta against his own mother at a school and to get back at her, 11 days before Christmas he goes to the school with guns blazing and guns down dozens of people. It's just too horrific to consider. These things don't happen in a vacuum.
On his Facebook page, one of his favourites was Mass Effect, a video shooter game. But he seems like a normal guy.
It appears that this could be the worst school shooting in US history. It is so so sad. What can be done to prevent his kind of tragedy? Instead of preparing for Christmas, all these families now preparing funerals. How can they ever be happy again?
