We have been hearing a lot about child abuse, domestic violence, and rape cases these days, not forgetting the corruption and fraudulent acts within the government departments that is continuously perpetrated by unscrupulous officials.
I do not know the impact on our children and community of this prolonged stories circulating the media almost on a daily basis, or do you want to call it news reporting.
Take a look at “juju”, we have been listening and reading all kinds of saga’s about the ANCYL President. The latest are the Tweets circulating on the internet concerning the future of the “president” if he would be able to assert firmly his ground without the milk from the “mother” (ANC elders) in finding a sustainable job.
And also, lately the media has been inundated by rape cases coming from all over the country perpetrated by individuals regarded as the corner stones of our society, irrespective of colour; age; and profession. The news we get this days are a repetition of old stories, that have lost character and meaning.
Has our society ran out of good stories or is it a prerequisite that we should always hear or read something about corrupt people of power who are intent on destroying every fibre of our society.
We are at a point where we need to read or listen to good stories, that contribute to effective transformation, where we can create platforms that are conducive and constructive to information sharing and distribution within the media arena. Without positive input from relevant sources to deliver good news, in not too far a future people will start idolising such foolish acts and embrace them as a norm in our society.
Such arrogant and egoistic people who are so adamant on serving their own agenda’s, rather than devote their energies on fulfilling the mandates as representatives of a larger populace, should receive full condemnation from all concerned parties. One such character that deserves such a reproach is the pastor who raped a 12yr old and another 54yr old man who took advantage of a little girl by conspiring with his domestic assistant to commit the abuse of a 15yr old girl.
Such human beings if you want to call them should be defamed and scrutinised to the effect that any person who might or have the notion to perform such gruesome acts against our society may without no doubt know his fate, an ex-communiqué.
