As I walk into the office today two hours after knock on time I realise that half of the department is not in and there is a very dramatic sense of peace with all those who are present minding their own business. It is unclear as to whether people are really busy or just trying to look very busy but my bet is on trying to look so. It is a very lazy atmosphere on the first Monday after all folks got their 13nth cheques and it seems a lot of them are still reminiscing on the passed Saturdays Christmas shopping with family or friends. As to whether any of them want to be here on this day I doubt, but rather just a matter of pushing the hours and taking the responsibility as adults who feel the need to do the right thing.
I was with a friend just before making my way to work and I was trying to convince him not to miss work on such an obvious day and obvious time of the year but rather failed in my efforts. In fact he even told me to leave his house after he was very irritated at the fact that I felt the need to go to work even after a very heavy festive season night of dancing and indulging. I eventually left his house and made my way to work but feeling a bit guilty for not joining my friend for rebelling against work on this day. My biggest worry was that I hadn’t notified my colleagues about any possible late coming or absence today and therefore really felt the need to be responsible. It is my second last day before I go on my December leave and it rather seems that time is moving at the pace of a hungry snail, but fortunately I’m naturally persevere and a firm believer of good things going to those who wait.
The year 2013 has come and gone and as I reflect, the general feeling is that I did not do bad at all. I just hope to stay safe this season and pray for the wisdom to do so, as It is a very happy yet dangerous time of the year. This is probably my last post for 2013 and therefore I am going to take the opportunity to wish a very merry Christmas and prosperous new year. See you in 2014
