So every now and then I need to waft over to the breezy crack of Table Mountain for business with creative geniuses who dwell there.
And every time, I return home vowing to never again deal with the arrogant, clique centric, weed smoking, hipster culture that permeates every inch of the place.
'Tomorrow is another day' their attitude screams, as your deadlines inch closer and they churn your job through their machines impassionately. Everything moves in slow motion, communication with clients is poor, you consistently feel like your business simply does not matter to them. Actually, the attitude is 'you need us more than we need you'-this from a supplier to a client!
It's Advert season and boy oh boy are the egos out to play! Over charging suppliers, exorbitant accommodation and a City that is arrogant from the film office right down to the assistants.
When the supplier acts like he is doing the client a favor to do something he is paid to do, you know there is a problem.
Even parties are badly organised: R200 a ticket to watch the worst DJ in history and then another R200 to squeeze under the stadium in the dumbest party setup ever.Or maybe we should go and watch a live band that is so high they forget the words to their songs!
Don't get me started on how rude the okes are in the traffic! Hell man, traffic in Joburg is like a relaxing massage compared to the miff tempered gymbob hipsters waving signs at you when you get a bit lost in a 'Tourist city'.
Say what you want about Joburg, but we work hard, play hard and know how to look after our clients.Parties are awesome and professionally organised and you have to work hard to get a oke to zap you!

Five years ago I thought it was just one company that had that attitude but it has been every single company I have worked with.
