Sin has no power

01 March 2014, 11:29
Though some of you my friends know what I am going to talk about, for you have experienced it for yourself the day you came to Christ – I don’t want to assume that all my friends know Christ and have a relationship with the son of God. You need him. You need to be alive and live.

Without Christ, you are dead and not living. You are in darkness and not in the light, and not of the light. It is a miracle and by God’s grace that you are able to make sense of what I write. Such things are foolishness to people living in sin and hell-bent. I hope you come to your senses and see the need of a Savior in your life. Christ loves you dearly.

To come to Christ is the greatest event in a person’s life. You are spiritually dead until you come to the LORD, then you begin to live. A saved man may remember his age when he first knew the LORD, because that day is the most important in the highest degree. It affects the entire past career, it sheds another light on all the years that have gone by. If he has lived in sin, as all have, the day that he came to Christ blots out all the sin.

That very day his transgressions and iniquities are blotted out, just as thick clouds are driven from the sky when God’s strong winds chase them. Is it not a great day when our sins were cast into the depths of the sea so that, “Though they may look for them, they shall not find them for they are no more.”?

Coming to Christ is the most important step and wisest decision you can make in all your life. You have no idea how wonderful the love of God in one’s soul is, until you personally experience it. “Oh taste and see that the LORD is good.”

The day a soul comes into contact with Christ is the greatest day in its history, because all the past is changed by it, as for the present – what a different life does that person begin to live on the day he finds the LORD Jesus. He begins to live in the light instead of being dead in the darkness. He begins to enjoy the privileges of liberty instead of suffering the horrors of slavery.

He is started on the way to heaven instead of continuing on the road to hell. He is such a changed person that he cannot explain the change in himself. The change is so evident that to him, it is either the whole world has changed or he has changed. It is like that when we are brought to know Christ – it is a real, total and radical change. This is no religion. For many, coming to Christ is the most joyous alteration. They feel like the man who had been lame – who after being healed was not satisfied with simply walking. For we read that “He was walking, leaping and praising God.”

The day a man comes to Christ is also a wonderful day in relation to the future of that man. His future will never be what his past was. There may be faults, there may be infirmities, failures and shortcomings, but there will never be the old love for sin anymore.

God’s promise to a soul that comes to Christ is certain, “Sin shall not have dominion over you.” When Christ comes to our soul, he breaks the neck of sin. Even though it lives a struggling, dying life and often makes a big deal in the heart, it is doomed to die. The cross of Christ has broken its back and broken its neck too – it must die! And die it will. A believer is bound for holiness and bound for heaven.
