SIN IS UNDENIABLE
There are two very powerful forces in the world which have been in existence ever since man was created. Those two forces are sin and grace. Sin is a very great power, so dark and mysterious but full of force. All the sorrows of mankind came from sin. We would have known no war, no pestilence, no famine – nor would any sickness or sorrow have ever smitten the human race if sin had not planted its evil seed in this earth. Sin is a box from which all evil has come to mankind. Death has wreaked havoc everywhere and continues to ravage many people’s lives. It mows down people as the mower cuts down the grass of the field. But death came by sin and after death comes judgment – to the ungodly (unrepentant sinner), this is the doom that can never be desired and whose eternal wrath the wildest storm cannot imitate. This eternal wrath is the justice of God on account of sin. Sin must, therefore, be charged with being the author of sorrow, disease, death and hell. This is no small power, which we come into conflict with. The power of sin is stalking along and defying the whole race of mankind. There is no race that is immune and unaffected by it.
The power that is to fight and overcome sin is NOT described, in the Word of God, as the natural goodness of human nature. That is just wax before the fire, it’s just fuel really. It is consumed in a moment in the fierce heat of sin. The force to combat sin is never described, in the truthful pages of God’s Word, as the power of human endeavour to keep the law. This has been tried and it has utterly failed. Completely failed. No weapons can be found by which a man may fight and kill his sins and obtain everlasting life. The only counter force against sin is grace. May be you are asking, “What is grace?” Well, that is for another day.
