Education is not a Crisis, well at least not in a country where it isn’t even a requirement to become President!!!
Angie Motshekga will have all us believe there is no crisis in education... yes and there is no sun in the galaxy, there is no white in milk and a pink giraffe on roller blades wearing shades and a thong just passed me an ice cold margherita. Yes, if she believes in her words, then I too can live in my own little world where giraffe’s serve me drinks as they rollerblade effortlessly on beach sand.
Dear Mr Jacob Zuma
I as many South Africans must agree that your pursuit for a second term is of utmost importance to you, and of course your family, friends, bodyguards, domestic staff, dogs cats and other random pets you may or may not have.... please do note that I have yet to mention the importance of your second term to South Africans in general.
This is because to the rest of South Africa, bar those aforementioned your nomination is as necessary in its importance as it is for all South Africans to learn the name of your most recent extra-marital affair. It may surprise you that we do not care.
However you need to know that we do care for our country, and had you any concern as to the direction you have been guiding this nation, you would ‘see’ your blindness and step out from any furtherance of your political career. I once met you when I was about ten years old in PMB, you rallied the crowd and spoke during a very hard time in our nation’s history. I must say I was somewhat moved by your words, determination to end apartheid and bravery.
Fast-forward two or so decades and you’re exactly the person you spoke against during that day I met you. In the past the apartheid government worked for a minority few, yes about three or so million people, and subjugated the rest of the nation using violence, yet most importantly they used the best weapon available to them and any other oppressor... the deprivation of a good education.
And here we are, in the new South Africa, using old established strategy to keep the whole nation suppressed. You are starving the nation of intelligence and education so you may keep them in the wilderness as to how to better themselves, and need less of you and your tenderpreneural systems.
I have seen how most branches and senior people in the ANC operate, if you’re too intelligent to fall for the populist views, they call you ‘an oreo; madam’s tea lady; anti movement; model c etc). Can you imagine the fact that being an intellectual means you’re shunned within the ANC? Let’s face it, Thabo Mbeki as aloof and ‘nose up’ as he was remains light years ahead of you in terms of being an actual president. You are constantly in the media for some further error in judgement, or another one of your family members has received another billion rand tender.
Give the youth an education and they will not vote for you, face it, you have voter pull in the rural areas and much less in urban and intellectual areas. There is a reason for that – “No learned person will allow themselves to have blind faith in you as you seek to turn the tax revenue received by the country as your own personal piggy bank “ no amount of canvassing will make you seem any wiser to those already wise to your current direction.
Kindly remember that a few kilometres north of us is a mad man who is using the country’s treasury as his own transactional account. He did not start this way, but he sure ended up as he is. I’m not saying you’re there yet, however be-careful some of your proposed laws (secrecy bill) and actions (state funds to build your home) seem a close resemblance to his past acts and legislations as well.
I guess I am but saddened in that the man you were and the man you are now seem to contrast each other so desperately, the hope you carried twenty some years ago has been replaced by the greed and gluttony of an old man desperate to enrich himself by any means plausible.
I am aware you cannot dismiss Angie so close to Mangaung, you need as much loyal and supportive comrade’s as possible to ensure you overcome that white bearded wart who thinks just because he makes more sense and speaks with some fluent logic he has the right to take over from you?? How dare he think being a better leader means you have earned the right to lead!!
I look forward to your next term as eagerly as I look forward to having a nail slowly pierced into my skull as a group of murderous aliens pull out my nails with pliers.
Best wishes
A somewhat educated South African
