Start-up business reality check

10 January 2014, 13:45

Being the business consultant that specializes in start-up businesses, I am often approached to help to raise funds. Raising funds for a business is the easiest thing that you will do for your business. However, you need to have something. Good starting point is to have a comprehensive business plan that you wrote yourself. Yes, get some help but the bottom line is WRITE IT YOURSELF. The other thing is that you have to give something. Very few people will just hand over the money for you to have some fun with it, they will want something in return: high interest, shares etc. Majority of the investors / lenders will want to see that you risked something too; hence, you need to show them that you believe in your plan and that you risked something too. Yes, business is about money, so let us not be offended by talking about money openly from the beginning.

Do not be naïve to believe that your idea is unique and not one single person for the last 5000 years, did not thought about exactly the same thing. Your job is to convince the investors that you can execute the idea better that others, and make more money than others make.

People it can be done!!! Waiting for the government to provide “jobs” will not get our or any other society anywhere; we need to take responsibility for our own well being! Once again it can be done.

So, when you have the brilliant idea that you put together in a business plan form; you are willing to risk everything that you have; and you would like some help, contact me, and let me help you to become the next successful business owner. Otherwise enjoy your life, just remember to have some fun.
