"The Law Society of South Africa (LSSA) said bringing the prisoners to a media conference had violated the men's basic human rights.
"The incident could be misconstrued by the public and encourage a culture of vigilantism," LSSA said. "...demontrates how the culture of human rights can go overboard and break the boundaries of common sense and justice."
Perhaps South Africa needs to develop more of a culture of vigilantism since the structures in place to protect and serve the population and keep us safe have failed miserably.
It seems that society takes the middle road between extremes and in South Africa tolerance has gone too far and it would be good to have some less tolerant extremes surface to bring the middle road to a more just and moral path.
It seems that tolerance for criminality in many forms has taken hold in South Africa since that is what our leaders demonstrate.
The American idea that everyone has a right to bear arms and defend themselves would be a much bigger deterrent to criminals here than the toothless authorities.
Our governmemnt needs to secure our borders, create a safe place to live in and provide infrastructure and a framework for the country to develop, time to do your job, manage the resources we give you in the form of tax effectively and stop exploiting us, please!
