Sympathy, Hypocrisy and Empathy - A Fairytale

13 February 2014, 09:42
Once upon a time in a kingdom called Cyber Land there lived a beautiful Queen called Sympathy. Sympathy was more beautiful than anyone else in the land. Her subjects adored her and listened to her every word and blog. She spent hours comforting people online, she told them that their complaints weren't so bad, that things would get better and that they should just move on.

The people of Cyber Land all had their own online accounts, some of them shared everything, some just a bit. Some were bold and fierce, some were timid and shy. There were discussions, there were sometimes small arguments but things all functioned quite well in Cyber Land thanks to Sympathy and her kind words.

Then one day something terrible happened. A wicked, middle aged, witch blew in from the outskirts of the kingdom. Her name was Hypocrisy and she was ugly. She was ugly on the outside and even more ugly on the inside. She immediately created an online account and started to belittle the people of Cyber Land.

Hypocrisy thought that she wasn't so bad. She had a couple pictures on her profile. But she hated the shy and timid people of Cyber Land. She would bully them and call them horrible names. She couldn't understand why no-one liked her because she thought she wasn't doing anything wrong.
Even Sympathy was at a loss, her kind words no longer sufficed. The people of the kingdom were being hurt and Sympathy could not relate appropriately to their feelings. Hypocrisy's popularity was growing and she was amassing a great big following.

Eventually Sympathy had had enough and decided to ask her wise sister Empathy for help. Empathy was not beautiful on the outside and had been quiet for a long time. Empathy liked to watch and listen instead of getting into arguments and fights. But Sympathy was able to convince Empathy to talk to the people of Cyber Land.

One by one, Empathy started to communicate with the people. She listened to what they had to say, she told them how she, too ,was a victim of Hypocrisy and how much it hurt her. For the first time in Cyber Land the people had someone to relate to. Empathy was able to console them and relate to their feelings of hurt and anguish. Empathy was becoming more popular by the day.

Hypocrisy soon discovered that Empathy was her biggest enemy. She flew into a rage and started posting horrible, hideous lies and untruths about Empathy online. She tried to strip Empathy of her humanity and dignity and belittle Empathy. But Empathy would not back down nor would she lower herself to Hypocrisy's level.

In time the good people of Cyber Land came to see right through Hypocrisy. It didn't happen overnight but when the tide turned, it turned horribly against the mean Hypocrisy. She was driven out of the kingdom and banished for life. Peace and calm had been restored to Cyber Land thanks to Empathy and all was well again.

The End.
