.........take this protest in the Cape, what the hell is going on with the 'casual workers' in the fruit farming areas? Those people are not slaves, they applied for those positions and accepted the wage they were offered.
Now, at the height of the fruit bearing season, when they should all be getting on with the job they applied for, and possibly bettering themselves by proving they are worthy of full time employment, they are demanding a higher wage and although they are free to go if they don't like their package, they strike instead and disrupt the most important time of the year to the farmers! They get violent and go on the rampage! Need l say more?
Do they or the ruling party care; are they building up themselves and their Country and their future? NO, of course not!!!!!!! Has South Africa advanced as much as it should have in the 18 years since Independence? And of course l'm not referring here to Apartheid, if nothing else, THANK GOD that horrific practice is dead!
The tragedy here is that if l was one of those farmers, who has spent a fortune on investing in making the farm a success and at the same time, supplying the Country and possibly exporting as well, which is excellent for foreign exchange, for my Country etc., etc., next fruiting season l would make quite sure that all the mechanical pickers will be lined up and ready to pick my crops, efficiently, and when the casual pickers all turn up for 'wek'......................!
