Teach me to toyi-toyi

23 November 2012, 08:30
Fires start by themselves and stones grow wings, burning the rubbish and other pretty things.Private vehicles become dented and second-hand and school bells ring 2 hour earlier, the more the merrier.

Business men demand that their windows be broken, Why? as a token to screw the insurance, stuff must be stolen or taken, much to be broken to suit the eye of the broker.  Dance, dance, dance into the night while part of this dance will be a street fight.

Cars roll over like  playful cats and call for a flame to light up their lives. Rocks magically come into existence: just the right size to fit the hands of grade 11 and 1.  While grade 12 dropped out of the way. Burn, burn ,burn burn. Loot all night long, all night long by the burning fires of ignoranceI want a house, I want a merc, I want a job, I want some more, more, more always more to settle the score. We want the service yet know we cannot pay and  and life carries on while we go our way. Give us a house, give us a Merc,  give us a job, a princely  pay or we will rob anything that gets into our way.

Rubber bullets dig trenches through hair and end up blue-ing toyi-toyi-ing backsides: Stomp left, stomp right: Burn and destroy everything in sight. By the burning fires of ignorance so shall the might of the strike just come alight. No light shall shine on the violence and greed, nor shall it serve as the work of a seed. All shall perish as a dead nutshell.

Teach me to toyi-toyi so that I can gain and survive with nothing to hide but my steps on the pavement  amid the rubbish and flotsam and jetsam of a mindless strike. So I, too, can score a merc and a house and a job and violently rob that which gets in my way.

An ode to silence, and peace

"Seek peace, and pursue it" is an injunction from the Good Book. It was, I gather, something King David once said. And who better to wish for it, given his tumultuous life.  Read more...
