Technology Wilderness

I am convinced that the computer geeks of the world have united secretly to get their revenge on the rest of the world.

Companies employ these so-called computer experts to redesign their websites and anything to do with computer software.

I can just see all the geeks wringing their hands in glee to see how mere mortals (like me) struggle with the "new improved" version of whatever computer stuff you are using.

Let me give an example.  I have been using Microsoft office for ever it seems.  The last version I used was office 2003.  Now I have Office 2007, which is nightmare to use.

Take Microsoft Word as an example.  I used to just scan any document onto Word 2003 by clicking "insert" and my scanner would come up and bingo! the document is inserted in word and you can either e-mail or fax it.

Now with word 2007 you can't do that, you have find out from "help" how to do it. now you have follow numerous steps to do the same thing That took 2 clicks with the mouse before.

Another example is ABSA who redesigned their computer website.  It is so complicated now a simple things like adding a new payment recipient becomes a nightmare.

I eventually abandoned that particular recipient.
