The ANC Church - what to do?

04 December 2012, 11:23

Over the past few weeks it has come to my attention that the ANC is much more of a religious movement amongst its followers than a political party. Through much deliberation and arguing I have come to realise that the only way followers of the ANC can still promote it in light of all the wrong doing and gross misconduct is through the unquestionable belief they have in the party itself. Personally, the most interesting part of it all is coming to the realisation that what the ANC is doing with their following is much the same as what is happening today in the major religions around the globe.

The Roman Catholic Church has hundreds of thousands of unsolved or dismissed cases of all sorts of abuse on its hands and this is only taking into account the cases that have been brought forward or exposed. The Catholic Church itself has been linked to money laundering for the Sicilian Mafia and more recently exposed to be involved in banking fraud. Yet, millions upon million still follow the religion, regardless of the wrongdoing done in its name or behind its name. The Muslim camp have their fair share of abuse cases themselves, content on throwing acid on cheating wives (without trial) or killing innocent little girls for preaching Science, killing thousands who question and thousands more who try and stand against the madness. Yet, million upon millions still follow the religion.

The ANC fat cats spend millions of Rands on themselves, more on their friends and family and even more on their extravagant lifestyles. They are literally sinking the country right before our very eyes, leaving us wondering, “How can this be?” Yet we know how this can be, it’s for the very same reason people still follow the Religions that are rotten to the core. They follow the ANC because, "the ANC lifted them from the shackles of the White Oppressor”, the ANC “saved” them and now they follow this religion regardless of its wrong doings. The ANC fat cats, the Pope and all of Allah’s followers can keep doing their thing because they are “Holy”, “Untouchable” and seemingly above the Law, not for legitimate reasons, but rather for the sole reason of indoctrination and fear mongering – we believe them to be.

Exposing ANC voters to the atrocities of the party is like telling Christians that their Pope condones child slavery or that Allah is a blood thirsty God who leaves empty promises of Virgins in the sky to have his deeds followed through. They will look at it, see it, try and understand it and still proclaim everything else to be, “OK” - putting their fingers in their ears and making loud noises to try and drown out reality. Why? Because, they believe in it and as the various articles and comments on this News24 section can attest to, when someone “believes” – you might as well move right along. But I don’t want to move along, I want to sort it out (or at least try my best to) because I live here and I want my children to live here – this is the home of my family.

The 'ANC problem' mimics that of what atheists view as the Religious problem. Personally my solution lies within education and the young minds that need to be exposed to truth rather than the belief in it. The more we teach understanding rather than belief the more we have minds in our society who are not susceptible to the mumblings of fools that gain their power through the dumbing down of everyone else around them. The more we teach according to our understanding about the world, the better chance we have of our folk questioning and concluding matters rather than leaving it open ended and unanswered.

Every time you complain about the state of the nation, know that it is a problem that no amount of information and logic can undo. We hope that the atrocities at the hand of our ruling party will become apparent to its followers and as a result end up in them swinging their vote towards a better suited party, yet we know this will not happen. The wait is over; the time to take action is now. We need schools to start teaching what the greatest minds of our time understand so that our kids can grow up questioning the world around them, including the institutions that claim righteousness but who fail to portray it. If we want the state of our nation to improve, it isn’t going to be done through a vote for the very same reason the Pope still has his Vatican and the Muslims their Mecca. We need to start somewhere and I am here to try and find a solution that hopefully doesn’t mirror the 'solutions' that are experienced here in the Religion versus Atheist camp, because that just seems to further degrade the people involved. We need solutions my friends and thus far – as the religious debate shows – we need a new tactic that is going to translate well when confronting the followers of the ANC Church.
