The ANC and the Afrikaaner

08 May 2012, 22:37

It really amuses me to see the ANC leadership now stating that the Afrikaaners are important, that the Afrikaaners have a place in the country and that they are needed. That really must have hurt.

If I wasn’t such a cynic I’d say that they have now come to their senses, at long last, and realized that the Afrikaaners played a huge part in the development of South Africa, even of Africa, and that this recognition is long overdue.

However, as I am a cynic I must say that this merely sounds like a bunch of dead beats once more trying – as liberation parties are wont to do when they have no clear policy of advancement – to divide and rule.

The ANC have got themselves between a rock and a hard place, truly, by pandering to those whom they thought could bring them enough support to continue “ruling” and to big business in an effort to gain the trust of the minorities. They have never governed, they have attempted to be all things to all men and they are now seeing their support disappearing as their glaringly obvious lack of ability and any real, meaningful policy – on anything – rises up and kicks them in their collective backsides.

I have some news for the ANC – the Afrikaaners are merely another nation within SA, just as are the Zulus, the Xhosas, the English-speaking whites, the Pedis, the Asians and so many others.

By attempting to garner support from such they are purely further alienating all other groups, races and languages and this form of attack is as dead as the proverbial dodo.

Why can’t they realise that we are all South Africans, and more importantly that we are all now thoroughly ticked off with their “governance” as it’s not only getting us nowhere, it’s actually taking us backwards?

I’ll tell you why. They’re running scared and growing desperate and a scared and desperate politician, or party, is like a cornered animal, not to be trusted and as useful as yesterday’s cold porridge.

They know they’ve overdone it with their corruption, their nepotism in high places, their cadre deployment, their heavy-handed displays of power, their arrogance and now finally, their poor implementation of a very costly, unworkable and unenforceable toll system.

We’ve seen them slowly sinking with too many criminals in high places, too many questionable appointments, too many of these being caught in the glare of the media spotlights and finally they shot themselves in their collective feet by appointing an incompetent, womanizing scoundrel to the highest post in the land.

I have to congratulate you ANC – you’ve made yourselves out to be more foolish than even I though you could.

You’ve made a mockery of our country and of us and you truly deserve what you’re now getting in return – pure, unadulterated disdain.

We no longer care what you say, what you think or what you do and I for one am going to pretend from now on that you actually don’t exist.

You are without doubt the worst political party ever to “govern” South Africa and will probably be immortalized thus in the history books that successive governments generate. Well done!
