Already, there have been people murdered by striking miners at Lonmin. There have been losses of life on the miners side too - some of which may even have been innocent of murdering police and fellow workers.
The miners are hitting Lonmin where any company feels it most - in their wallet.
However, I think they will find that instead of hurting the bigwigs, they're hurting themselves.
My guess is that the 1 200 workers who won't get jobs at Lonmin now are just the tip of the iceberg. The Lonmin miners and their compatriots are going to protest themselves out of any income whatsoever.
The insanity has to stop sometime - but somehow, I suspect that we have not even seen close to the worst yet.
As long as people like Malema keep agitating, there are going to be more job losses, more loss of life and more chaos.
