The DA is too white

02 May 2014, 18:18

In South Africa poverty or wealth is racially aligned with a White earning six times more than an African. This phenomenon consequently results with politics being racially aligned. Race politics cannot be ignored.

To give a background of why the DA is a white party, in Gauteng only five African candidates made it into the party’s top 20 spots. Those Africans are Maimane, Refiloe Ntsekhe, Solly Msimanga, Khume Ramulifho and Lebogang More. This is very shocking for a party operating in Africa.

It gets worse, In the Western Cape, the DA has five black African candidates in the top 27 of its candidates list for the provincial legislature. I don’t know how one could explain such lack of transformation this day and age. It is revolting to say the least.

Further into the Western Cape candidates list, the Western Cape DA leader Ivan Meyer admitted that the five candidates of the black Africans on the lists only made it after senior party official’s intervention. What if there wasn’t any intervention? There would have been no single black African in the top 27 DA Western Cape candidates list?

As if the situation is not bad enough senior DA African leaders condone the lack of transformation. One Mmusi Maimane tells us "That is not the way to hold a democracy. It is about the issues, not your race”. It is amazing how that comes from him because he is only in his position at the DA because he is African and an Obama wannabe. He further goes on to say equity quotas “fundamentally racist”. Maimane clearly doesn’t have a grasp of South African politics.

For the past 350 years South African politics have been about race and will continue in that direction into the near future till equality has been reached. The EFF of all the opposition parties is way better positioned to take on the DA. In South Africa with its history and current racially aligned socioeconomic status only a black party can topple the ANC.

Kolobe
