The DAgang Divorce, EFF advantage?

05 February 2014, 12:25

What really transpired during this week long relationship?

We all know that the madam (Helen Zille) had been interested in the Doctor (Mamphela Ramphele) joining DA for a while, long before Agang was officially registered. I at least assume that we all knew that small fact.

The short marriage between the two strong women in South Africa was what most of us did not expect. There is a reason why Agang supporters were not joining DA. Madam’s party had been in existence for a very long time and when Agang was formed, people saw hope and true leadership their way. Imagine the excitement of being led by at least a very educated person, no pun intended there. Both DA and Agang should have seen this coming, their partnership not lasting. It is quiet unsettling that DA thinks that they need a black face for their election campaign.

It is not written anywhere but we are not naïve to think that was the point and intention. In my previous articles, I mentioned that I want ANC out, we deserve better, but if political parties continue pulling stunts like this and confusing the voters, ANC will get what it expects during the election period. That is more than 60% of the seats. My vote was with Agang before the merger and during, which means I was going to vote DAgang but now, none get my vote. Next step, what now? Voters want to trust their leaders to make good decisions on their behalf and represent them well. But when we have “the Madam and the Doctor” pulling such stunts then the choice will be left between EFF and ANC which at the end of the day leave most voters with the ANC. I am not voting for the ANC as well.

Politics in South Africa are very interesting. I always say if all this opposing parties are against the ANC government then why not form one party and contest the elections. The answer is simple, power and greed are what lead us daily. You look at what the greed for power did to COPE, no one wants what is best for us, and it is about each of them being there.

Let us look at EFF, political parties are like a business move, it is about knowing your target market and we must agree that Julius Malema knows his. He knows where to go and when. His strategies are not to lure the advantaged and well educated but it had always been to lure the opposite. I do not think we will ever get Julius seriously campaigning at Waterkloof, think about it.

EFF will get the expected seats, not the presidency one of course but the expected number, all because Agang voters do not want either DA or the ANC. I believe that the DAgang merger was the biggest rise for EFF. I am also not voting EFF, nutshell, my vote is lost. Again, I am not being sarcastic.
