The Doctrine of atheism... Myth no more

27 May 2013, 14:34

In a recent article, I was questioned or rebuked by Neil Croeser and JK01 that atheism had no doctrine, despite the following  definitions…

Atheism is a belief/idea that disbelieves in the non existance of gods...

http://www.infidels.org/library/modern/mathew/sn-definitions.html

“atheism Disbelief in, or denial of, the existence of a god.

disbelieve 1. trans. Not to believe or credit; to refuse credence to: a. a statement or (alleged) fact: To reject the truth or reality of.

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/atheism

1 archaic : ungodliness, wickedness

2a : a disbelief in the existence of deity

b : the doctrine that there is no deity( Note Doctrine) J

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dogma

Dogma is the official system of belief or doctrine held by a religion, or a particular group or organization. It serves as part of the primary basis of an ideology or belief system, and it cannot be changed or discarded without affecting the very system's paradigm, or the ideology itself.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indoctrinated

“Indoctrination is the process of inculcating ideas, attitudes, cognitive strategies or a professional methodology (see doctrine)”

Did you see that "Doctrine" word? "There is no God" etc is your doctrine...

They stated that atheism had no religious beliefs and couldn’t be preached therefore not a religion. I stated atheism was an irreligion which only mean  being “against religion” or “having no form of religious connotations”.

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/irreligion

ir·re·li·gion

noun \?ir-i-'li-j?n\

Definition of IRRELIGION

: the quality or state of being irreligious

Neil further claimed this :

“I get the idea people like you can't understand how people can go through life without believing in some deity, that isn't our fault, get over it, go pray about it, let the clever kids go on... You'll catch up some day”

and JK01 the following :

“This is how to insult an atheist “Look, you atheists are just as bad as us religious guys”

You need to raise your standards, insulting someone by saying they are like you is not a very good reflection on you!”

And

“By insisting atheism is a religion, you are trying to discredit it. How do you not see the implication?

Surely I don’t have to spell it out again?”

Surely if they had a strong argument there would be no need for an ad hominem by Neil and a Straw man argument by JK01. Atheism ought to be stronger than that… Surely J

It is amazing how many times a Christian is called a “fool, moron, idjit, clown” etc just because the applicable atheist’s argument is weak and failing.

Both was reminded that despite atheism not being a religion, shared many traits and characteristics with that of religion, and since they, and not all atheists use the similar traits and characteristics theory to defend their evolutionary ideas concern the common ancestors. It is better to focus on the differences, than the similarities to get to the truth.

There is no reason to discredit atheism as claimed by JK01 , especially by Christians, since the atheism squad bench is filled with people like Ccreaker/ Mike swart, Sunblock, Damn the Man/ Jody Beggs and many of the others that claimed their profiles were supposedly blocked from commenting and publishing articles…

When acts are committed in the name of some concept/ideology/ stance it merely discredit the person not the whole group, yet by targeting religion, you do implicate the whole group... yet “hate” it when we do "jest" with the idea towards yourself

Let look at the definition of Doctrine, because there was a view between these two nice gentlemen that Doctrine was allocated 100% to that of religious nature…

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/doctrine

1 archaic: teaching, instruction

2a: something that is taught

b: a principle or position or the body of principles in a branch of knowledge or system of belief : dogma

c: a principle of law established through past decisions

d: a statement of fundamental government policy especially in international relations

e: a military principle or set of strategies

So clearly it can be seen that Doctrine doesn’t exclusively belong to the religious concepts or concepts within religion. Other Related Words are “canon law; belief, conviction, tenet; credo, creed, ideology (also idealogy), philosophy, theology; axiom, precept, principle; symbol”

Lastly it was said that it couldn’t preached… okay...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atheist_Bus_Campaign ... no preaching? Sure, check out the atheists preachers on a daily basis…right here on N24.

This was in the below article…

Thanks JK01 for making me smile today…
