People it is the year 2013 and I am glad to say to you today, that yes I am gay and I am proud!! The reason I can say this is because of the suffering that my fellow gay brethren and sister has gone true is the past, today we enjoy constitutional rights that gives us equality , we in South Africa were one of the first countries were we could get married to the same sex.
So we now according to the law have protection against discrimination, But why then am I writing this to you today, well it is all good and well that we have rights, but on the ground we still get bullied we still get left out and we still get spat on , we get mocked , and we get told we chouse to be gay , we can get cured, and some churches not all of them tell us we are going to hell.
Just a wile ago one of my friends got his head bashed in when he came out of a club in Pretoria, he had to get reconstructive surgery , and the guys there was four of these hero’s
And they just walked away leaving my friend to bleed on the side walk he had a broken nose six cracked ribs a broken wrist, this happened in front of the door of the club in full view of the patrons and the club security, what is shocking is that after and during the attack no one helped my friend, after a while he came to got into his car and drove himself to the emergency room. The guys even took the wheel spanner they used on him and made some dents in his car, My friend never saw this coming and was couth in this attack unaware that it was going to happen as he did not provoke anyone inside the club.
He filed a police report, but no one saw anything apparently and the guys that did this never got recognized by any one.
Nice is it not?
So this is my appeal to you , we need you to start recognizing us as equals to yourself , we need you to help when we get beaten up ,not just stand there and look on, I mean if this was a strait girl who this was happening to people would have helped her , same if this was a strait boy, just because my friend is different ,he got treated like this.
Yes we are different, but I assure you we are just as normal as you! We have hopes desires, dreams, and we have hearts, we have believes we are passionate, we bleed.
We may have rights is this country witch we earned , but a second revolution is required it a revolution of your hearts, we need to find a way to get you to care , we need you to understand us ,
Most of you already do care, but there are still lots of misconceptions about us fueling hatred. I plea to you to look at us, as we are just humans like you
We are your brother, your sister your cousin your uncle your aunt, maybe your collage at work or even your friend at university or school. We are the person next to you in church or in the theater , we might live next door to you , we gym with you we shop with you , and WE CARE FOR YOU!!!!
