Recently, Christians have been bombarded on News24 by accusations that we are ignorant, blinded and nonsensical. We are tired of it.
Everyone in the world is entitled to their opinion, no matter how small or insignificant that opinion may be and as opinions are like noses, it seems as though everyone has one these days. But we are tired of hearing it now. Christians are not perfect beings in any way whatsoever, neither are atheists though. It seems that alot of atheists out there are claiming to be more intelligent, calculating, scientific, aware and ahead of Christians but that is not the case. Just because a person has a religious belief, that does not make them an unintelligent person by any means and if you choose not to have a belief in a religion, that does not make you intelligent either.
Plenty of atheists seem to take on this "holier-than-thou" concept even though they have no belief in a god or deity. If you are an atheist, that is great and we shall remain happy for you until the end of your days and it is evident that if you are an atheist that we are not going to change the way you live your life. The same goes in the other direction, if you are a Christian that is also great and we hope you live a happy and fullfilled life and it is also evident that any atheist will not change the way we as christians live our lives or what we choose to believe in.
This is why we all need to give it a break now. The country is tired of it. Call it whatever you want and label it how you want but don't blow your opinion on the country as you would your nose. The fact that you are religious or not does not make you more or less intelligent and neither will it make a difference in the lives of others. You choose what you want to believe because you want to belive it and no one is going to change that whether you want them to or not.
So those who call religious people ignorant, blinded, stupid, silly, unaware, fearful or whatever, you need to look at your own life before you attempt to 'correct' the way others live theirs. No human is perfect and certainly no human is as intelligent as Albert Einstein was so don't attempt to try and act like it. There are many, many Christians out there who are highly intelligent and clinical who are able to think for themselves and make hard descisions based on whatever and yes, there are those Christians who have limited intelligence and cannot think for themselves but that is not because they are Christians, it is because they are humans. If I were to interview every atheist on the planet, I guarantee that I would find thousands upon thousands of unintelligent, ignorant people who choose to avoid religion simply because they are ignorant or arrogant in their lack of knowledge, so please don't, as an atheist, pretend that you are more intelligent that a Christian person simply because you chose not to support a religion or believe in a God. I am not going to try and persuade you to belive in my God and I will not try and base my religion on facts and try prove you wrong, because that is not what religion is about. That is what debating is for...
