We all know them. We fear them too. They lurk in this huge place we call the internet. Most of the people who would read this post probably consider themselves internet savvy. Smart. We know our way around neh? Well, these trolls do too. They aren't any different form you and I. I may turn into one one day too,with no warning.
I wonder what it is that makes one pride themself in such behaviour. Whenever I can't explain why someone is being mean, I always remind myself 'Happy people spread joy'. It doesn't change what the other is doing, but it sure makes me feel better.
These trolls I'm talking about here are the ones that sit and wait for people to upload posts on blog sites. It takes a lot for one to write their story, in their second language and put it out there. It is easier to write down stuff than it is to talk, for me. Why I write them...well...this reason changes from time to time. Like now, I'm writing in the hope that one troll at least reads this and thinks about what their comments do to the writer and more, what it says about them.
I have always known about these trolls, I never was one of them. Perhaps I show the behaviour they show here in other areas of my life. I do pray I'm not as horrible though.
Since they have lots of time to comment, I'm just wondering if at least some of them can just shed light on why they do such here. You might have an English professor getting a hernia over my lack of using paragraphs or using text lingo....sure...that's like how I feel when I see someone with cracked nail polish. I cringe.
The difference is the way I approach the offender. When one gives advice in an attacking manner, it does nothing to resolve the issue and neither will it save you from further trauma by too long sentences and made up words...the way I do.
Have you never heard of the saying 'if you have nothing positive to say?' I think if you don't like a post, for genuine reasons, you could just skip it or give your opinion on why you do not like it. Attacking someone you have never met sort of displays very internet-trolly behaviour...and that's not very nice. Why do you enjoy people seeing how much you can tell a stranger off? tjooooo. We like different things in this world neh?
I sit here and see all the venom that spews out from some of the comments here...whoooaahh...it can't be THAT bad if News24 read thru it and gave it the green light... There is a reason ya'll come to this site over and over again. I do hope its not to trash people so they can feel as horrible as you do. Being nice brings more nice I should let you know.
Just think about that before you grade the essays you so can't wait to read. Or you could get out. And do real stuff. And read the news at intervals...sometimes even be too busy to comment. That happens y'know...when people are busy. Try it. And smile a little. Ok, smile a lot. Cos I said so.
See how many grammatical errors I made? Lets pray the Queen doesn't decide to come down and take her language away from us cos me is butchering it so...well, I'd have 8 languages left...ayeyee those with only 2 languages. Gcwala!
