The Pompous Atheist vs. The 'Intolerable' Believer

15 July 2014, 09:37

I tend to consider atheism as becoming just another religion; for it seems that no longer atheism bears the meaning as simply being a lack of believe in theism. That what I observe of atheists, especially on these forums, is that they are very eager in a desperate and condescending sort of way to prove to the world with an insatiable thirst that religion is nothing but pure drivel – and that those of us who so much as venture towards placing our faith in something ethereal are ignorant fools. They tend to accuse those of religious views in forever trying to shove their believes upon others. This is a rather ironic viewpoint though for its evident in comments they place on writings of a religious manner that it is in fact the very thing they are making themselves guilty of.

Unfortunately those of religion tend to label atheists as being a bunch of self-righteous bigots, who don’t stand for anything except for standing for what they don’t stand for. However true this claim may be in relation to some atheists, sadly the opposite also becomes true in relation to certain peddlers of faith. Self-righteous bigotry flourishes across both sides of the camp with some of faith being just as uptight about what they believe as their atheist buddies seems neurotic about their own unbelief’s. When atheists starts vying against those of religion in a quest for proof of what the faith preacher believes, the inclination towards a religion of their own becomes evident in the atheist.

As the condescending attacks against those of faith continue amidst these forums, I believe the reason to be attributed to the fact that some atheists can be just as irrational as some believers out here.

Those of faith believe the universe to have been created by a Creator whilst the atheist considers the start of the universe by mere chance. Now this is an extremely awkward mind-set if one should bring into consideration the wristwatch. Imagine for a moment if you will the following scenario – One day, many many moons ago, as I was laying on the beach, basking away in the sun, my eyes adjusting to a plethora of widely scattered bikini clad babes, all of a sudden the outlines of a watch appeared on my arm. Bit by bit all the screws and minutiae of said watch started assembling itself upon my arm. Then the watch automatically started adjusting itself to the correct time of day keeping perfect time henceforth. Please don’t accuse me about now of nicking this most expensive and beautiful woven watch from the abode of Mr. Oscar Pistorius, as I was in the Seychelles at the time he accidently mistook his lover for a crook; he is innocent by the way, but that’s an article for a later time. Please believe me about the tale of the watch though for if you do not you’re an atheist.

As an atheist however you’re intelligent enough to realize that I could be talking nonsense about the watch as it must have had a maker, yet illogicality abounds when having to consider the same of the universe by ascribing its origin to something other than that of a Maker. In fact, with this type of mentality individuals are merely constructing regions within their minds that lead to their own inner comfort. Many people are so moved by what they think they know that they are totally blinded as to the opinions of others by presenting arguments that merely runs about in circles.
