The man who has leaked secret papers written by the pope was convicted of stealing and was sentenced for 18 months in prison but dont dispare the man is in line to what religious fundis call a papal pardon,Paolo Gabiele was hired to be a butler to Pope Benedict XVI during his course of serfdom he came across the Popes secret document which he later handed to a journalist who eventually wrote a book called His Holiness: Pope Benedict XVI's Secret Papers
This came as no suprise for most of us who dennouced the man made intitution called the Vatican, but the relationship between slavery and the Vatican goes back a long way back during the time of one Pope Nicholas V (1447-55)
In his papal bull (patent letter) Pope Nicholas V said i quote :We, after scrupulous reflection, are granting by our Bull full and entire freedom to King Alphonso [of Spain] to conquer, to besiege, to fight, and to submit all the Saracens, Pagans, and other enemies of Christ, wherever they may be; and to seize the kingdoms, the dukedoms, the princedoms, the lordships, personal properties, landed properties, and all the wealth they withhold and possess; and to submit these persons to a perpetual slavery; to appropriate these kingdoms, duchies, principalities, counties, lordships, properties and wealth; to transmit them to their successors; to take advantage and make use of them personally and with their offspring.:close quote
One can argue that having a butler is another form of what Pope Nicholas V coined as "make use of them personally and with their offspring" that is slavery of another kind but this is very much debatable as many of us still have aunties flushing our toilets ,what suprise me though is religious Pope having secrets papers of which the public must never view
God bless the Pope
