The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RMTC) should change their name to the Road Traffic Damagement Corporation.
An accident is defined as “An unfortunate incident that happens unexpectedly and unintentionally, typically resulting in damage or injury.” What should be added to that definition is the inept policies and the Stalin management style of the RTMC.
How can we accept a “Markina a day” in South Africa over the festive holidays? Do we see a national outcry or a judicial enquiry? The RMTC has no one else to blame but themselves due to their “ostrich” style vision and refusal to wake up and smell the blood. Their statistics are skewed and in some cases totally missing or deliberately misrepresented in order to give themselves a pat on the back (and probably a fat cash bonus) for a job so-called well done.
Traffic management has long become a budgeted for revenue stream and not a form of punishment as it is meant to be. The Komrade Fried Chicken brigades are happier to sit behind some bush and trap on a perfectly safe road rather than be proactive and stop the carnage on our roads. H
ere are a few suggestion, please feel free to add your own and hopefully a KFC official will actually be able to read them:
Drop the K53 test as it is nothing but total failure and open to corruption.
Introduce compulsory driver and pedestrian education at school.
Police moving violations on an on-going basis and not just during holiday seasons.
Remove the fining revenue stream from local municipalities and centralise it.
