Despite all the noise we make, isolated behind a computer and insulated from reality, our problems arise out of ignorance and self deception to the extent that we believe we are superior to the world out there and, too, have the solutions to the problems of the world. Woe betides those that do not abide by our thoughts, rules and perceptions. We see this every single day on the fora and in the news papers, on the job and in the home.
As stated in an earlier article I lost my ID book in Ermelo and the world came to an end sans the Maya. I went through the usual steps to have a replacement made and was presented with a Temporary document valid for 2 months. And was told the real McCoy would be ready in six weeks.
After much ado about nothing the laws could not be changed to suit myself. I just had no option but to wait. Yesterday I had to make a bank transaction and an ID document was required. I produced the temporary job which is almost as big as an A4 document. The cashier pulled up her shoulders and accepted it and the transaction skimmed through the system unaware of the A4 ID document. Good, and one great step for mankind.
Yesterday I received 2 sms’s in quick formation and both were identical. They were sent by the Department Of Home Affairs informing me that I could collect my Id document at the Office where it was accepted for renewal. The request for a new document was made on Monday 24 December 2012. And if going according to the Home Affairs Department it should be here by 6th of February. Still 2 weeks to go. So on Friday morning, tomorrow, I will be on the road again to collect the document in Ermelo.
So what is the point? The point is others and myself gave the Department of Home affairs hell because we were not properly informed by their workings and imposed our opinions onto Home Affairs. Look Before you leap.
