I find it strange that many governmental departments have not reached the stage where latest thinking and technology are the order of the day. Running ahead is Telkom who seems to still be in the dark ages, attitude wise. I recently went to pay an account and produced the account which had been sent earlier. The cash assistant turned the account over and over and eventually told me that I do not owe Telkom anything because the account had been paid up earlier.
The account was paid up earlier because I did not receive an account at the time and paid the amount directly using an account addressed to myself for identification reasons. I have a 2 year contract with Telkom and cannot wait until it will finally elapse in May 2013. Now should I make a late payment then I may be penalised yet the cause of being late is the incompetence of Telkom.
Two years ago I had a billion 400G router installed. The instructions were supposed to be sent to me telephonically yet the clarity of speech was extremely poor and the assistant had to be reminded that I am partially deaf. Solution: She hung up on me. Eventually I obtained the assistance of my daughter and the instructions were so badly garbled that she too asked the assistant to be more clear: the telephone was hung up on my daughter. Will be going to Vodacom and I just hope they are better than Telkom.
