Unemployment is high as usual but still daily people resign, skip work or complain about how they want a better job and more pay.
Someone asked can you survive off R1000-R2000 a month , still many have to make do with what they have ,what do you say to the guy who worked for 5 years and still brought in a 4 digit monthly salary.
Somewhere out there is someone better off and worse off then you and you don’t have to look very far , in my own town just going down an a narrow street you can find a building divided in too four small rooms the size of a middle class bathroom and around the corner is a double-storey house.
This is reality ,just this year a man who worked at the same business as me resigned ,every time it rained he had to throw water out of his flooded house or repair the collapsing wall ,he walked 5 days a week from the township to work.
Daily ,year after year many south Africans struggle but still it is the maids and gardeners who greet me in the morning and afternoon with a smile ,it is the retired widower who occasionally gives a lift to work in the morning and it is too those people I applaud ,the everyday south Africans for being who they are .
