So here I am, trapped on my laptop while 2 PCs bake in the heat of their Video renders. Hence my third article submitted to N24 in one day.
I was reading an article by Desilusionada (pronounced blahmahblehdahdah I think) when it dawned upon me education was a far bigger problem than we realise.
Allow to make a silly attempt at sounding intelligent (I shall even invent words!)
Education, and I mean BASIC education, is the cornerstone of any advance into a developed future.
Education makes our ceiling the floor of the next generation - they continue to carry the torch forward into the darkness of the unknown.
One man's lifetime of trial by error takes but a few classes for his protégé to understand and thus the protégé moves forward in leaps and bounds without needing to repeat the nightmare of the initial attempts.
With solid education, progression becomes the norm but without it...
Hell on earth.
I think that would describe it perfectly.
Without some form of goal or vision, people fade. We become purposeless ghosts plodding through the mists of ignorance never knowing what we do not know.
Worse still is the moment that we, in that mist of ignorance, see an enlightened person living a life that is so much better than ours.
At first we are in awe but after a while, when we begin to realize that there is so much more to achieving that life than the mere 'getting' of it, a stew of ignorant bitterness begins to brew in the depths of our soul.
A culture of 'taking' and 'wanting' replaces a culture 'of earning' and 'sharing'. We begin to despise even the teacher who tries to show us the way of the light because it takes too damn long. "I want it NOW!"
"You cannot have it now" says the teacher; "You may never have it.. but you can certainly make sure your children get it!"
"MY CHILDREN?" Shouts ignorance, "I DON'T CARE ABOUT THEM, I CARE ABOUT ME!"
And so ignorance leaves the educating and raising of it's children to the enlightened ones.
So one day, many years later, when the children who are able to claw their way our of the mists of foolish culture start to get the things so earnestly desired, the ignorant parents climb upon their backs and force them into the slavery of debt.
Ignorance breeds criminals. not only criminals who use guns but also criminals who use blood. "We are family" is the most dangerous weapon and very few can say "No" at gunpoint.
We moan about crime and corruption but those are mere fruit!
Crime is a fruit, not a root.
Corruption is a fruit, not a root.
And so ignorance becomes another fruit upon the tree of corruption because to the corrupt ignoramus, our children do not matter.
The clear culprit of this horrendously horrendous horrendity is the lack of modern, driven education programming.
Tradition is the enemy of progress and culture is it's core. If all hands man the bilges and get to pumping the ignorantius dementiaitus out of our 18 million under 19's we might have a shot at a bright future.
Other than that, things can only become worser than worse!
Fear not.
Many of us are driven to turn the tide.
Maybe not for this generation, but our children will stand tall upon our ceiling and call it their floor!
