Listening to the brilliant 'speech reading' by Nathi Mthethwa yesterday, was enough to put me to sleep. It was almost as bad as listening to jacob Zuma's State of the nation address. I'm not talking about the accents, I'm simply talking about the fact that it seems like as he was walking up to the podium, he received his speech for the first time. A grade 2 pupil could do a better job of doing a public reading.
Let me just quote Phiyega and that kinda sums it all up: "You can see over the past 9 years, we've managed to reduce crime. This is the story of success of crime prevention." How can we let these people stand there and let them lie to the public and with the contempt. They really are on cloud 9, I mean honestly, you just can't describe it in any other way.
The public must be grateful and Mthethwa always referring to the rest of the world as a scape goat, they have problems, so have we, deal with it, is the general attitude.
If this trend persists, there wont be a public to be grateful any more at the rate South Africans are being murdered and raped and robbed, its disgusting to say the least.
All the major crimes have gone up, everything and I personally don't even think its very accurate, most of the statistics are 18 months or older, so thumb sucking is the order of the day. The less major crimes all went down by 0.something, nothing to write home about.
All in all, I'm incredibly unhappy with everything said yesterday.
We on a road to nowhere...
